牛津學堂
Oxford College

牛津學堂 1882年9月15日落成開學，首批招收18名學生。馬偕是牛津學堂主要的教師之一，學校教授的學科，除了神學與聖經外，有社會科學（歷史、倫理等）、自然科學（如天文、地理、地質、植物、動物、礦物），醫學理論及臨床實習等，是當時罕見的新式學校。馬偕過世之後，牛津學堂改為神學校。1914年神學院遷移至臺北，即現今的臺灣神學院。原本的牛津學堂改成「淡水中學校，1965年轉為「淡水工商管理學院」，1999年更名為「真理大學」。

 

Oxford College was established and began to enroll students on September 15, 1882. Eighteen students were enrolled the first year. MacKay was one of the main teachers. In addition to theology and bible studies, they also taught social sciences, such as history and ethics, natural sciences, such as astrology, geography, geology, botany, zoology, and mineralogy, and medical theory and clinical practices. At the time, it was a rare example of a modern school. After MacKay passed away, Oxford College was restructured into a theological college. The theological college relocated to Taipei in 1914, and is now known as Taiwan Theological College and Seminary. The original Oxford College buildings were used by Tamsui high school, and upgraded to Tamsui Oxford University College in 1965 and its name was changed to Aletheia University in 1999.
