網站緣起 Abouts Us

 

本網站「臺灣海外遺珍數位學習單元」計劃是在教育部科發基金資助下建置,其中包括三個中、英雙語數位學習單元:(1)『臺灣異人館─19世紀的外來採集者』、(2)『海外博覽會─1910年倫敦日英博覽會』與(3)『精選文物館─臺灣海外遺珍選粹』,進一步展開數位教育和文創推廣工作。主要內容以臺灣大學『臺灣海外民族學藏品資料庫』(TECOM)內的數位典藏資料做為基礎而延伸,彙整此資料庫中英國大英博物館、英國劍橋大學人類學博物館、牛津大學比德瑞佛斯博物館、加拿大皇家安大略博物館、美國自然史博物館與密西根大學人類學博物館等,六大知名歐美博物館所藏之珍貴臺灣文物與影像資料約1,700件,進行專題解說。本網站透過這些外來採集者與散佚海外的臺灣文物遺珍,企圖讓學習者理解19世紀中葉至20世紀中葉跨界收藏互動的歷史,以及認識珍貴的海外臺灣物質文化遺產。

This website is funded by the Foundation of Scientic Development under the Ministry of Education. It aims to create 3 public learning units: (1) The Unit of

“Foreign Collectors: Collecting Formosa in the 19 th Century”; (2) The Unit of “Overseas Exposition: 1910 Japan-British Exposition in London”; (3) The Unit of “Selected Artifacts: Formosan Masterpieces in Overseas Museums”. Based on the materials in the “Taiwan Ethnological Collections in Overseas Museums” (TECOM) web-databank which includes over 1700 pieces of Taiwanese artifacts and images preserved in the famous European and American Museums, such as the British Museum (BM), Pitt-rivers Museum at University of Oxford (PRM), Museum of Anthropology at Cambridge University (MACU), Royal Ontario Museum(ROM), American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) as well as the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropology (UMMA), these learning units tend to let the general public understand the collecting history and cross-boundary encounters between Taiwan and western countries, as well as appreciate the precious early Taiwanese material heritage preserved abroad.
